There were a number of outstanding performances by Forge students at yesterday's athletics championships.

Carrie Gordon ran an amazingly tactical race for a year 7 student to become the Year 7 Sandwell Schools 800m champion. Carrie was also placed 2nd in the 100m.

Other great individual performances came from Drew Priest who achieved 2nd place in the year 9 shot-put and 3rd place in the 100m.

The Yr 8/9 boys (Drew Priest, Brad Kandola, Lewis Hamblett and Luke Dingley) and Yr 8/9 girls (Sophie Smith, Leah Smith, Sylvia Mayasi and Hannah Pincher) relay teams secured 3rd places as well as the Yr 7 boys relay team.

Finally the whole Year 7 team were placed 2nd in Sandwell in the overall competition. Please congratulate the athletes in Year 7 for this outstanding achievement. Team members were:

Leighton Davey                                     Ashleigh Pearson
Maciej Siatkowski                                 Carrie Gordon
Krystian Piwowarski                              Caitlin Haycock
Ellis Mills                                              Annabelle Forrester
Leo Hillman

Twelve Sandwell secondary schools were present at yesterday's championships so our students fought off some tough opposition and quite literally 'ran their socks off'.

I am extremely proud of them all and a special mention to Jack Stone who kept the crowd entertained throughout the event with his 'Dynamo inspired' card tricks!
