The year 10 volleyball team went to the Black Country Games Finals today in Wolverhampton.  They are the first volleyball team to get the finals so they have done incredibly well to get this far.

We played teams from Redhill, St Francis and Coppice.  With many current national players at the tournament it was always going to be tough for our girls.  However, they played amazingly well, drawing against the eventual semi-finalists, St. Francis and narrowly loosing to Redhill and Coppice.

The girls represented to the Academy with distinction and should be congratulated for their efforts:
Seher Mahmood
Emma Downing
Demi Hinton
Courtney Howes
Aamnah Shoaib - player of the tournament for her amazing serve!

In addition to their playing exploits, Emma Downing made a speech to everyone at the competition along with other students from across Sandwell.

Many thanks to Jack Worton for his coaching masterclass and to Michael Whelan for making the trip over and supporting the girls.
